Trimming Goat Hooves

ALL Goats need their Hooves Trimmed from time to time. Depending on the ground they are kept on, and the food that they eat, some goats will need Hoof Trimming more often than others.

Working Goats NEED to have their Hooves looked after and Trimmed as soon as they need trimming. Think of it as you going to work all day in shoes that pinch your toes as you walk, or that turn your foot sideways with every step. No one wants that, and Goats do not want their feet to hurt as they work either, and some will goats, with hooves that need trimmed, will bulk at working because of it.

Untrimmed goat hooves can twist the goat's stance, or take their heels to high, often uneven from the other foot across from it.

Trimming Goat Hooves correctly is not hard to do, and photos can be found in Goat Books, also available at the Library, or on line.

Of all the Animals on the Farm that need Hoof Trimming, well trained Goats are about the easiest and fastest to trim. You only need a few, inexpensive (relatively speaking), easy to find, tools for the purpose of Trimming Goat Hooves.

For kids you are working and training to become Work Goats, lift their feet often, hold them up a few seconds, let your kids get used to having a human handle their feet. This will make Hoof Trimming Easier for years to come.

I will be adding more information, tips, ideas and photos very soon.
