Bible Goats

Goats in the Bible? You bet. And not just a few! Goats were mentioned as food, for milk, sacrifices and the words "scape goat" came from Genesis. Goats were valued and mentioned for a show of wealth (how they defined wealth in Biblical times was a list of animals and how many they owned).

Many people, I have found, do not understand that when a person brought their best buck goat, "the one without flaws or blemishes" and many times they were to be a year old; that what God was asking for was the best of the best.....or, what some do not understand...the one you would want to keep as a herd sire. The father of your new goats to come. The goat that would shape the whole herd. Many people just think any buck goat could be a sacrifice, but God asked for the best, and He knows our hearts, and He knew how hard it would be for many people to give up that "best" herd shire candidate.

Much of the Jewish Nation and Christian Religion has goats in the foundation. Think about the stories of Abraham as well as Issac, Jacob and Esau. Much centered around a goat, or goats. I like to think that Jacob made the spotted goat famous. Have you ever wondered if it was Angora Goat hair that was used on the Tabernacle? I have.

This is a brand new page and will take much work. I will be adding scriptures and or Bible stories that include goats (by name) to this page. The contents of this page for Bible Goats is still under construction. Please check back often. I had and am having such a good time with our www.biblicaldonkey.com website....and learned a lot too, that I thought I would continue the work by adding a Bible Goats page to this site.
